What People Are Saying
Real stories from real people — lives transformed through the power of the thought-life.
Ken (K.C.) Pierson is a leader in the recovery community.
I have had the opportunity to observe his interaction with peers. He is an inspiration to others and commands a unique capacity to communicate the most nuanced concepts in recovery. His work has been exceptionally helpful to many of my clients.
I highly recommend him.
It is with pleasure I write this letter of reference for K.C. Pierson.
I have listened to his audio tapes and witnessed him conduct a lecture and found him to be an amazing presenter of information. K.C. is compelling, knowledgeable, and extremely passionate about helping people. He has been an amazing asset to the recovery field in Malibu, California. His energy is unlimited and he will go above and beyond the call of duty to help people who are struggling with addiction and cognitive thinking errors. His psycho-education material is valuable to everyone, not just addicts, as it addresses common thinking errors that affect people's thinking and behavioral patterns.
Whoever gets to work with K.C. is fortunate. He is a great team player, teacher, and lecturer. I am happy to speak in person to anyone seeking to add K.C. to their team or treatment center.
Sincerely,
I am writing this testimonial to express my deepest gratitude to my addiction specialist, Ken, whose unwavering support and expertise truly saved my life. When I first sought help, I was at one of the lowest points imaginable. I was struggling with addiction, my 23-year marriage was on the verge of collapse, and my relationship with my daughter and grandchildren were severely strained. My daughter did not speak to me for over a year and a half, and I missed the birth of my second grandchild.
Over the past 40 years I have been to more than 10 residential rehab facilities, undergone multiple outpatient programs, and attended 12-step meetings. All to no avail. I have had multiple DUIs, and I have spent most of my life in and out of jail for various reasons. Until I met Ken, nothing seemed to work. He worked with both my husband and me. He spent a year guiding us through this process.
From the moment we began working together, he provided a safe space. His compassion, patience and deep understanding of addiction gave me hope when I felt utterly hopeless. His no-nonsense approach was exactly what I needed. As addicts, we are always trying to make excuses for ourselves and to find the path of least resistance. Ken encouraged me to dig deep and to be honest with myself.
One of the things that sets Ken apart from other specialists is his deep knowledge of the 12 steps. One of the things missing from traditional rehab programs is that they do NOT show you how to live a life of sobriety. After you stop drinking or drugging, then what? Ken showed me how to apply these spiritual principles to my everyday life. Anytime a problem arises, the answer can be found in the 12 steps.
Thanks to his consistent guidance and encouragement, I have been able to reclaim my life. My marriage has not only survived but has grown stronger, as we rebuild trust and communication. The bond with my daughter, once nearly lost, has been healed and I am now active in the lives of my grandchildren. Today I am proud to say I am living a healthier, more fulfilling life, thanks to Ken's dedication and the foundational principles of the 12 steps.
There are not enough words to thank him for all he has done. His expertise, empathy, and genuine care made all the difference. I am living proof that recovery is possible. If I can do it, anyone can do it. If you are searching for someone who can truly help you change your life, I cannot recommend Ken highly enough. His expertise, kindness, and dedication have made a profound impact on my life. I will forever be grateful.
Meeting Ken was no coincidence -- I prefer to call it a God-cidence! I had tried everything to save my relationship with the woman I loved but no longer liked. I felt she had chosen alcohol over us. I was totally ready to throw in the towel and felt I had lost the fight. I picked up Ken's brochure at The Russell Museum in Waynesboro, VA, and intuitively knew I had one more chance.
We struck up a conversation, and you know how some people just resonate with you? Well, that was Ken. We talked for a long time, and I was able to share things about my relationship with my wife that were too embarrassing and unbelievable to share with friends or family. He had already heard these kinds of stories many, many times. Thank God for his wisdom, and I said, you are hired! What do we do next? He had a tried and true plan of action.
Long story short -- after one year of brutal honesty and radical forgiveness, my relationship has reached a new level that I would have never thought was possible. All of the hurdles became stepping stones to a more fulfilling, intimate, and trusting bond between her and me.
We are still a work in progress, and Ken is still available as an invaluable guide. I wish Ken a heartfelt thanks, and may God bless his continued work. There IS light at the end of the tunnel.

A friend nudged me to attend one of K.C.'s workshops, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made. I have now attended four workshops and I am amazed at how much I've learned about myself -- my self-imposed limitations and the negative self-talk I had carried for years.
K.C. is helping me re-discover my loving, kind, and capable self. After only a few sessions I realized: I am the only one standing in my way. I feel like I am at the beginning of a marvelous journey with so much to look forward to and so much to absorb.
Thank you, K.C.!
A friend of mine who had been out of the program for 18 years recently returned. I shared some of K.C.'s Daily Reprieve recordings with him, and within days he called me saying, this guy is talking directly to me -- that's exactly how I feel! That was the same reaction I had two years ago when I first discovered this work.
K.C., you can never fully know how many lives your message reaches through technology. It is a gift I cannot express enough gratitude for.
Five years ago I checked into Hazelden. At the time, the 12 and 12 was almost an afterthought. But I recently attended a retreat where the long-term sobriety speaker built his entire message around emotional sobriety, the instincts, and the mind -- exactly what you teach. Don't drink and go to meetings isn't enough. Your message is badly needed in recovery. You are doing God's work, and there are many people who are grateful for you that you may never meet.
Keep doing what you do.
Last night I was sitting in my peaceful garden and noticed a tiny frog sitting perfectly still for the longest time. Then I looked away for a moment -- and when I looked back, he was gone. It made me wonder: how many things does God bring into my space that I simply miss because I'm not fully present in the moment?
K.C., your teachings have opened my eyes to the beauty of stillness and awareness. I appreciate you so much!
What a beautiful, beautiful thing to wake up to! This just made my entire day. The best part is I can keep coming back to this on my phone throughout the day. You are such a beautiful person, K.C. I have a feeling this is going to make a lot of people smile.
I love you, my friend -- and Happy Early Birthday!
As always -- right on, and right on time. Thank you, K.C., for the many ways you have influenced my recovery. You act as a vehicle through which God speaks to His kids, and I am so grateful for that.
Sending lots of love and gratitude your way!
