When the Cat’s Away
- Description
In this audio, the group share their personal experiences of grappling with ego, self-will, and the challenges of early sobriety. The discussion opens with questions about how to support others who are in the grip of distorted thinking, and expands into honest conversations about emotional instability, judgment, and the power of spiritual principles in everyday life.
Using excerpts from recovery literature, the group explores how self-centered instincts, such as the drive for control, approval, or security, often run beneath the surface, fueling defensiveness, and fears. Through stories and insights, this audio addresses the deeper layers of denial and emotional resistance that can arise, even in sobriety, and how humility and self-inquiry help clear the path forward.
You will hear how the program’s tools, steps, meetings, inventories, prayer, and community create a foundation for spiritual growth and emotional freedom, especially when we are left to manage ourselves. This also touches on Paths 7, 11 and 12.
