We drank and used drugs because of self-justification. Self-justification is the maker of excuses for all kinds of crazy and damaging conduct always giving us an alibi for bad behavior. We drank because we have very defective relationships that cause our woes including our alcoholism and addiction. We have violent deep emotional conflicts that exist below the level of consciousness that we have forgotten. We act in defects of character that cause us to want to drink to forget our actions.
- Description
Violent emotional twist exist below the level of consciousness and they come out in our personal relationships. We are the victims of erratic emotions. We see them in others but only slowly see them in ourselves. We think tough conditions in our life cause us to drink. When we can’t change our conditions, we drink and drug even more. We must learn to change ourselves to meet conditions. We must learn the world will not change for us no matter how much we hurt ourselves. I can’t give God anything I am not aware of, or any defect that I cannot see.
