There is a signal your inner life sends you every day, and most of us miss it. The moment you stop feeling good — truly, genuinely good — you have taken something back from God. You have reclaimed control. And the negative thoughts that follow are not random: they are the signal that you are no longer walking with your Higher Power. That is not a judgment. It is information. And it is the invitation to return.
Feeling Good Is a Spiritual Indicator
We think of emotions as things that happen to us — reactions to circumstances we cannot control. But the spiritual truth is more empowering than that. Your inner state is a gauge of your connection. When you feel genuinely at peace, grateful, and clear, you are aligned with something greater than yourself. When you feel anxious, dark, or stuck in negative thought loops, you have drifted from that alignment.
The minute you do not feel good, the practice is simple: recognize that you have taken it back. You have tried to run things again. And the answer is to open your mind and invite the Power back in. Not as a ritual — as a living act of surrender.
How to Invite the Power In
Open your mind first. That sounds simple but it requires releasing the grip — the insistence that you know how this should go, that your perspective is the right one, that your pain is someone else’s fault, that the answer you need should look a certain way. Let all of that go.
Then ask your Higher Power — whatever that means to you — to show you the warped thinking. Not to confirm what you already believe, but to reveal what you cannot currently see. Ask to be shown where your perception is distorted, where fear has replaced faith, where pride has replaced humility.
And then listen — really listen — with the willingness of someone who has nothing left to lose. Be present. Be here, right now. Not in yesterday’s regrets or tomorrow’s worries. The Power is available in this moment, not in the one you are reliving or anticipating.
No Reminiscing with the Past Until You Are Ready
One important caution: do not go digging in the past before you have done the foundational work. Calm, thoughtful reflection on personal relations can deepen insight — but only when it is guided by the right intention and the right support. Premature reminiscing without a framework tends to produce more pain than clarity, more justification than healing.
Build the present connection first. Invite the Power in. Get grounded in what is real right now. Then, from that place of stability, the past can be examined without being dragged into.
The Practice
Every morning, every afternoon, and every time you notice you have stopped feeling good: open your mind, invite the Power in, ask to be shown your warped thinking, and be here right now. This is not a complicated program. It is a daily return. And every return makes the next one faster, easier, and more natural.
- The moment you stop feeling good, you have taken something back from God — that is information, not failure.
- Negative thoughts are a signal that you have drifted from your Higher Power’s alignment.
- Inviting the Power in means opening your mind and asking to see your own warped thinking clearly.
- Listen with the willingness of someone who has nothing left to lose — that is the posture of genuine surrender.
- Build present-moment connection with the Power before revisiting the past — stability before excavation.
