Spiritual fitness is not about being positive all the time. It is about having the discipline to recognize when you have been running on negative energy — and then doing the specific work of restoration. Just like physical fitness requires consistent training, the mind needs regular exercise to stay strong, clear, and balanced.
The Universe Runs on Balance
We live in a universe of ultimate balance. When you spend time in negativity — about a person, a situation, or a part of your life — you are taking from that thing. You are depleting its energetic account. Awareness of the negativity helps, but it is not enough to heal it. To actually void the negative energy, you must counter it with an equal measure of positive energy directed at the same target.
Think of it this way: as many negative thoughts as you sent toward a person or situation, that many positive, uplifting, affirming thoughts must go back in their direction. The universe does not let imbalances stand indefinitely. Either you restore the balance voluntarily — through conscious, repeated positive thought — or circumstances eventually force the restoration in a much less comfortable way.
The Asset List Practice
Here is the specific exercise. When you find yourself having been negative about something or someone, make an asset list for that thing or person. What is good about them? What value do they bring? Why are they purposeful in your life or in the world? Feed those thoughts with sunlight. Return to them repeatedly until you feel the energy shifting.
This is not a one-day exercise. It must be applied with the same consistency and volume as the negative energy that was released. If you spent three days chewing on something negative, give it three days of deliberate positive redirection. This is how you build spiritual fitness — not by avoiding difficulty, but by knowing how to restore balance when you have drifted out of it.
Filling the Hole
When you find yourself in a hole — in a dip of self-pity, victim mentality, or persistent negativity — fill it up. Pour in trust. Pour in uplifting energy toward yourself and the situation. Pour in reassurance. Trust in the goodness around your life. Keep filling until you feel yourself back on solid, level ground. The indicator that you have returned is simple: a general sense of wellbeing about your life. When that is back, you have restored the balance.
- The universe runs on balance — negative energy sent toward anything must be counteracted with equal positive energy.
- Awareness of negativity helps but does not heal it; deliberate positive redirection is the actual cure.
- Make an asset list for whatever you have been negative about — feed it with equal and opposite sunlight thoughts.
- The restoration must match the volume: as long as the negativity ran, that long the positive practice must continue.
- The indicator you are back on solid ground is a general sense of wellbeing — fill the hole until you feel it.
